First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoSales remained robust for the new 2010 James Buchanan’s Liberty First Spouse Gold Coins, the latest United States Mint sales data revealed. 780 proofs and 492 uncirculated sold, making the combined total grow closer to the maximum mintage.

Mintage limits were reduced for the 2010 coins from 20,000 for each product option to 15,000 across both, and Buchanan’s Liberty coins came close to reaching the halfway mark. In just ten days since the release, the total sold hit 7,399, which accounts for 49.3 percent of the maximum allowed. [click to continue…]

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoCollectors jumped at the opportunity to pick up the new 2010 James Buchanan’s Liberty First Spouse Gold Coins and the other available coins in the series. The latest United States Mint figures revealed sales were higher across the board. Presidential Dollar and First Spouse Medal Sets, though, did not experience the same kind of demand.

Over 7,000 First Spouse coins sold during the week, with Buchanan’s Liberty coins taking up 6,127 of them. The new Liberty only went on sale Thursday, September 2, and by Sunday 3,641 proofs and 2,486 uncirculated were snatched. The start was much higher than many recent releases. First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoAcross the board demand for First Spouse Gold Coins slowed following the sales spike from the previous week, the latest United States Mint figures revealed. Even though all eight gold coins advanced by double digits, 348 of the gold coins sold versus 568 in the last round. Interestingly, the uncirculated gold pieces sold more than the proofs for a third straight week.

The frontrunner of the series was the uncirculated Fillmore coin for a second week in a row. It rose by 86, but that was far from the prior round’s 133. Next was Jane Pierce proof coins, at 81, and its uncirculated version, which gained 51. Previously they had climbed 90 and 94, respectively. [click to continue…]

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoIt has been a while since more than 500 First Spouse Coins sold in a week, but it finally happened. Collectors took 568 of them, according to the latest United States Mint figures, compared to 159 in the previous week. Seven out of eight coins had double digit movements, while one sold more than 100.

The uncirculated Fillmore First Spouse Gold Coins advanced by 133, which was a complete turnaround from its prior movement of -42. The proof version rose 44, after ranking last place with a -44 in the previous round. [click to continue…]

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoFirst Spouse Coin sales slowed again, for a third straight week, new United States Mint sales figures show. Even though each coin’s movement was in double digits, the overall increase was just about half of the prior report, 159 compared to 307.

Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coins were most popular, with the proof version advancing by 82 and the uncirculated by 64. Sarah Polk’s coins were third and fourth, since the uncirculated gained 36 and the proof climbed by 23. [click to continue…]

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoEven though five out of the eight available 24-karat gold coins beat the previous week’s gains, overall sales were lower by 3 — 307 compared to 310. The medal sets were worse. Together they climbed 357 after jumping 610.

Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coins held the majority, with 121. The proofs added 77 and the uncirculated climbed 44. The prior week’s numbers had been 59 and 18 respectively.

Last week’s highest performer, Sarah Polk’s uncirculated, slowed to 30 this time after gaining 99. Its proof version also picked up 30, which was higher than 28 previously. [click to continue…]

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoSurprisingly, only one out of eight available First Spouse Gold Coins exceeded previous weekly gains, and it was Sarah Polk’s uncirculated that not only improved but was the highest performing.

According to the latest United States Mint sales figures, Polk’s uncirculated advanced by 99 compared to 97 previously. The second closest gain was Jane Pierce’s proof, which increased by 59, while in the prior report it had been 211. [click to continue…]

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoLower prices helped boost sales for Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coins. Proof and uncirculated versions’ combined to reach 262, nearly half of the entire series weekly total of 538, according to the latest United States Mint sales figures. The previous gains were much lower — 112 for the Pierce coins out of 282 for the whole group.

Every coin actually gained in sales over prior weekly numbers. Jane Pierce proofs rose the most by adding 211. Sarah Polk uncirculated was the second biggest gainer, increasing by 97. The two coins that moved the least, picking up 29 each, were Abigail Fillmore uncirculated and Margaret Taylor proofs. [click to continue…]

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoSarah Polk First Spouse Gold Coins awoke from a long sleep, the most recent United States Mint sales figures revealed. The uncirculated gold piece jumped by 78, and the proofs advanced by 27. Polk’s numbers haven’t been that high since a surprise spike in April. The increase for the uncirculated version moved the total beyond the 3,000 mark, and together 7,909 have sold since they launched on Sept. 3, 2009.

In seven days, the entire Spouse series gained 282, up from 181 previously. Five out of the available eight coins saw higher sales, and seven experienced double digit gains. Still, July has not been as good as June, but that is to be expected since the U.S. Mint released the Jane Pierce coins on June 3 which drew in the typical influx of orders.

Jane Pierce proofs came in second place by a hair, since they increased by 77. Pierce’s uncirculated took third, rising by 35. Abigail Fillmore uncirculated coins ranked last, for the second week in a row, but at least their gain was positive. First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoIf lagging United States Mint sales is an indication of summer, then summer is here. Demand settled for the entire series, not just the most recent Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coin issues.

As a group the entire series gained 181, the most recent U.S. Mint sales data showed. Sales came down from the 444 during the prior week and were the lowest since early June. Two out of eight coins managed only single digit gains while the remaining pulled off double digit gains.

Jane Pierce proofs and uncirculated led in sales again, tacking on 81 and 51 respectively, while previously they had risen 89 and 181. Third and fourth place went to Margaret Taylor and Abigail Fillmore proofs. Each picked up 22 and 21 new sales. [click to continue…]
