First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoFirst Spouse Coin sales slowed again, for a third straight week, new United States Mint sales figures show. Even though each coin’s movement was in double digits, the overall increase was just about half of the prior report, 159 compared to 307.

Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coins were most popular, with the proof version advancing by 82 and the uncirculated by 64. Sarah Polk’s coins were third and fourth, since the uncirculated gained 36 and the proof climbed by 23.

The coins that fell the most were Abigail Fillmore’s. Both retreated. The proofs clocked a -44 and the uncirculated declined by -42. The big adjustment was likely due to returns or cancellations.

Collectors waiting for lower prices will have to wait a lot longer. Prices rose Wednesday afternoon, the 18th, by $25. The change occurred because the Mint uses the London Fix’s weekly average on Wednesday to determine whether it needs to adjust its numismatic coin prices accordingly. It found that a higher price was warranted. The London Fix daily price of gold was above $1,200 since last Thursday, August 12. First Spouse coin prices rose from $754 to $779 for the proofs and from $741 to $766 for the uncirculated versions. The last price change was on July 21 when prices fell $25.
