First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoDemand plummeted for First Spouse Gold Coins, following an increase during the prior week, the latest United States Mint sales data revealed. Customers only wanted 159 of the coins, versus 558 previously.

4,543 Buchanan’s Liberty First Spouse Gold Coins remained available. The US Mint set their limit at 15,000 and 10,457 has been purchased so far. The United States Mint posted a “Last Opportunity Sale” that includes First Spouse Gold Coins. The proof and uncirculated Margaret Taylor First Spouse Gold Coins will be pulled from the Mint’s line-up on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 12:00 noon (ET). Each coin has a $10 face value and is struck from 1/2 ounce of 24-karat gold.

Yesterday, September 23, 2010, the United States Mint launched the 2010 James Buchanan Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set for $11.95, plus shipping and handling. The set is the third for 2010 and the sixteenth released in a series that honors both former Presidents and First Ladies.

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoCollectors jumped at the opportunity to pick up the new 2010 James Buchanan’s Liberty First Spouse Gold Coins and the other available coins in the series. The latest United States Mint figures revealed sales were higher across the board. Presidential Dollar and First Spouse Medal Sets, though, did not experience the same kind of demand.

Over 7,000 First Spouse coins sold during the week, with Buchanan’s Liberty coins taking up 6,127 of them. The new Liberty only went on sale Thursday, September 2, and by Sunday 3,641 proofs and 2,486 uncirculated were snatched. The start was much higher than many recent releases. First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoAcross the board demand for First Spouse Gold Coins slowed following the sales spike from the previous week, the latest United States Mint figures revealed. Even though all eight gold coins advanced by double digits, 348 of the gold coins sold versus 568 in the last round. Interestingly, the uncirculated gold pieces sold more than the proofs for a third straight week.

The frontrunner of the series was the uncirculated Fillmore coin for a second week in a row. It rose by 86, but that was far from the prior round’s 133. Next was Jane Pierce proof coins, at 81, and its uncirculated version, which gained 51. Previously they had climbed 90 and 94, respectively. [click to continue…]

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures logoIn this week’s United States Mint sales data, every First Spouse Gold Coin slowed. Retreating sales is common in the fourth week following a new coin launch, but this time the weekly increase was less than half of last week’s. Only 413 of the 24-karat gold pieces were purchased, following 918 previously.

Jane Pierce proof coins continued their high-stepping march above the older coins, bringing in 196 in new sales. All others stayed in double digit figures. Its uncirculated version, of course, was next in line, adding 76. Together, the Jane Pierce coins took up 65.8 percent of all new sales in the series. [click to continue…]

The United States Mint began selling their Franklin and Jane Pierce Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Metal Set on Thursday, June 24 at noon Eastern Time, for $11.95.

The two coin set contains an uncirculated Franklin Pierce Presidential $1 coin and a 1-5/16 inch bronze medal identical to the Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coin. The coins are packaged within a plastic card that has a portrait of the fourteenth President and First Lady with information on the back. [click to continue…]

Two new First Spouse Gold coins launched from the United States Mint. The Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Proof Coin and Uncirculated Coin released at noon Thursday, June 3rd.

These 24-karats one-half ounce gold coins are being added to coin collections around the world. The special gold series started in 2007 and honor the spouses of each U. S. President. According to the law that began the collector coins, at least four new First Spouse Gold Coins will be struck each year in the order first lady’s served through 2016. [click to continue…]

2010 Abigail Fillmore First Spouse Gold CoinsThe United States Mint launched the Abigail Fillmore First Spouse Gold Coins today at noon Eastern Time.

The 1/2 ounce, 24-karat gold coins have a face value of $10 and come in proof and uncirculated versions. Each are struck at the United States Mint at West Point and bear the ‘W’ mint mark.

The coins are encapsulated for protection and ship in a presentation case with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the United States Mint Director. No household order limits are in place, but the maximum mintage is 15,000 across all product options as opposed to the 40,000 maximum of earlier coins in the series. [click to continue…]
