The price of gold has been at its highest level since Feb. 20th, and that may have some effect on First Spouse Coin sales. All but one of the First Spouse coins performed better than last week. Julia Tyler’s proof steadily increased the most, this time by 230 compared to 217 last week. The only exception was Julia Tyler’s uncirculated version, which sold 105 units compared to 133 last week.
Van Buren’s Liberty First Spouse Coin is the final 2008 coin still being sold by the U.S. Mint. It’s hard to predict whether it will perform as well as the other 2008 coins before its sales are stopped. Right now the proofs are standing at 6,659 and the uncirculated at 3,723.
