Proof First Spouse Gold Coins Spike

United States Mint sales figures were quite good for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential $1 and First Spouse Medal Set and the proof versions of three First Spouse Gold Coins. Abigail Fillmore and Buchanan’s Liberty gold coins both beat out Mary Lincoln’s proof for the top spots.

Collectors gobbled up another 997 of the Abraham and Mary Lincoln Presidential $1 and First Spouse Medal Sets in this round and pushed their new total to 8,444. The set has only been on sale for a little more than two weeks.

James Buchanan’s medal set added 89 and just crossed the 6,000 marker at 6,036. It has been on the market for more than 15 weeks.

For the first time since the launch of the 2010 Mary Todd Lincoln Gold Coins, neither version was the highest seller. Abigail Fillmore’s proof came in first with an advance of 200. Buchanan’s proof Liberty was second with a gain of 101. And finally, Mary Lincoln’s proof was close behind with a pick up of 98.

Overall, 601 First Spouse coins sold compared to 393 previously. Broken out, 488 of them were proofs and 113 were uncirculated.
