Buchanan Proof Liberty First Spouse Gold Coin Beat Lincoln’s

Sales certainly slowed for First Spouse Gold Coins and their companion Presidential $1 and First Spouse Medal Sets in the latest round of United States Mint sales figures. Buchanan’s Proof Liberty First Spouse coin beat both of Mary Lincoln’s gold coins combined. In all, the US Mint sold 262 coins versus 601 in the prior report.

Buchanan’s Proof Liberty leaped by 103. It was the only one in triple digits. The next closest was Mary Lincoln’s uncirculated version with a gain of 43. The third top seller was Jane Pierce’s Proof, which moved by 40.

Since Buchanan’s Liberty coins have a combined maximum mintage of 15,000 for both product options, only 3,795 were still available as of Sunday. Together, 11,205 have sold. 6,938 were proofs and 4,267 have been uncirculated.

Sales for the Abraham and Mary Lincoln Presidential $1 and First Spouse Medal Set slowed from 997 to 732 in this round. Buchanan and Pierce’s sets, however, outperformed their prior sales. Buchanan’s advanced by 98 compared to 89, and Pierce’s set gained 51 after picking up 42 previously.
