Mary Lincoln First Spouse Gold Takes Top Spot

US Mint sales figures revealed a loss in demand for First Spouse Gold Coins even though prices dropped by $25 last Wednesday, January 26. Overall, 274 coins sold, compared to 437 in the previous week. Mary Lincoln proof coins returned to the top spot and her companion Presidential Dollar and First Spouse Medal Set continued its leading streak.

It had been a few weeks since the Mary Lincoln First Spouse Coins had the highest weekly sales, since all of the attention had been going to Buchanan’s Liberty coins recently. In this round, her proofs climbed by 89. Buchanan’s proof version tied for second place with Lincoln’s uncirculated. Each had 43 in sales. The only coin that did not pick up much was Abigail Fillmore’s uncirculated, which only added 7.

The Lincoln Presidential $1 and First Spouse Medal Set jumped by 387, which was higher than the 343 that was bought in the prior week. The other sets, however, slowed. Buchanan’s set rose 58 compared to 61 previously, and Pierce’s set increased by 26 versus 31. In all, thanks to Lincoln’s performance, 495 sets sold compared to 462 in the last report.
