Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coins led in sales again, and the series’ combined total of coins sold picked up a few more during the week than the last report, US Mint sales data shows. Together, 444 sold, beating the prior data by 31. This time, the uncirculated 24-karat gold pieces bested the proofs, and the Jane Pierce uncirculated took the top spot.
Jane Pierce uncirculated coins leaped by 181 while the proofs added 89. The previous numbers had been 76 and 196 respectively. Another coin that did better, and was third most popular, was the Abigail Fillmore proof. 58 were purchased compared to the prior 22.
Honorable mention went to Sarah Polk’s coins. Both outperformed prior sales. The proof gained 31 and the uncirculated advanced by 24, compared to 18 and 19 in the last report. But the real kicker were Polk’s totals. The uncirculated, 2,957, already beat Julia Tyler’s uncirculated 2,861, but now Polk’s proof overcame Tyler’s by two, 4,832 to 4,830. The Mint stopped selling Julia Tyler First Spouse coins on June 3rd.
The Franklin & Jane Pierce Presidential $1 & First Spouse Medal Set grew by 1,080 to bring its total to 2,420. The set launched on June 24th with inaugural sales of 1,340. Fillmore’s set rose by 151, compared to their previous 150, and Taylor’s set climbed by 85, down from 92.

I’ve noticed that, when an issue goes off sale, press notices are careful to say, “No longer sold by the United States Mint. Final sales figures are listed.”
…instead of “No longer minted. Final mintage figures are listed.” Does this mean that additional coins could be minted and distributed through channels other than direct US Mint sales?
Ooops, my mistake. Please disregard the previous comment (Taylor vs. Tyler).
