While the previous report showed triple digit increases for both Margaret Taylor coins, 320 for the Uncirculated and 261 for the Proofs, this week Taylors’ only rose by 38 and 85. The two coins that improved compared to last week were the Letitia Tyler Proofs, adding 21 versus the prior 16, and the Anna Harrison Proofs, gaining 20 over the prior 17. Julia Tyler’s Uncirculated stayed the same with a weekly increase of 8.
Perhaps collectors were anticipating today’s price drop of $25, since the spot price of gold started to decline last Wednesday. The U.S. Mint lowered gold coin prices today to $704 for the First Spouse Proofs and $691 for the Uncirculated because the London Fix weekly average fell under $1,100.00. (See coin price grid.) The last time the Mint cut prices was on Dec. 16.
