Buchanan’s Liberty Wins Sales Majority, Two First Spouse Gold Coins Sold Out

Five out of six available First Spouse Gold Coins outperformed their prior week’s gains, resulting in 968 coins sold versus 336. In addition, two more coins recently sold out.

Buchanan’s Liberty uncirculated option commanded the most of collectors’ attention. It led the majority of sales with 493. In the last round, the Liberty coin advanced 199.

Two other coins erupted in triple digit gains. They were the Jane Pierce uncirculated and the Abigail Fillmore uncirculated. They surged up by 186 and 117, respectively.

The only coin with sales that were lower than the previous round was the Mary Todd Lincoln uncirculated coin. It rose by only 1 compared to 16 previously.

Within the last few days, two more coins were taken out of the United States Mint’s product line-up. Abigail Fillmore’s uncirculated coin and Jane Pierce’s uncirculated coin were both moved to the Mint’s "No Longer Available" page. They joined Buchanan’s Liberty proof and Jane Pierce’s proof coins, which sold out in February and early March.

There are only four coins now available from the US Mint, when their is typically eight. At this time, a release date for the first 2011 Eliza Johnson First Spouse Gold Coin has not been formally announced. The coin went through a second round of designs, which has delayed its release.

The second design in 2011 will be the Julia Grant First Spouse Coins, and her coins’ launch date is tentatively set for June 2.
