Overall, First Spouse Gold Coin sales were down. 683 sold instead of 868 like the previous report. Five out of eight available coins under performed, which included the oldest coins, Margaret Taylor’s, whose had been improving three weeks straight.
Of course, in the top bracket was Buchanan’s Liberties. 270 proofs and 124 uncirculated blew away the third most popular, the Jane Pierce proofs at 75. The fourth place contender was the Margaret Taylor proofs beating fifth place Jane Pierce uncirculated 59 to 49.
The three coins to outperform prior sales were the Buchanan proofs, Pierce proofs, and Abigail Fillmore uncirculated. In all, the proofs outnumbered the uncirculated in this round 448 to 235.
All of the Presidential $1 and Medal Set performances slipped as compared to their prior week’s advance, except for one that tied it. Buchanan’s set rose 515 versus 941, and Pierce’s set climbed 154 after 218 previously. Only the Zachary and Margaret Taylor set tied with a growth of 47 in both weeks.
