Most who follow the series were expecting the US Mint to stop selling both coins on the morning of Sept. 3, which is the day Sarah Polk First Spouse Coins are released.
The latest proof and uncirculated sales tallies for each coin are 7,806 and 4,493, respectively. It can be a challenge to find the coins on the secondary market, as current eBay auctions highlight. Expect the uncirculated sales figures to jump more than normal in next week’s report.
In terms of weekly sales, Julia Tyler First Spouse Gold coins were again leaders. The US Mint placed the $10 commemoratives on sale Thursday, August 6. As of Sunday, August 16, collectors purchased 2,087 proof and 1,125 uncirculated — a weekly respective increase of 548 and 295, or a gain of more than 35% for each.
