As far as most popular goes, the Margaret Taylor coins took top honors. The proof version sold the most, picking up 39 and beating last week’s increase of 30. The uncirculated version came in second by gaining 19 – a huge improvement over the previous week’s addition of only 4.
The good news is that the US Mint finally said it is launching Abigail Fillmore First Spouse Coins at noon March 18. The announcement came on Monday and was a welcome relief for fans of the series. If history repeats itself, nearly 1,000 proof and uncirculated will sell in the first few days.
The Anna Harrison coins will likely be removed from the Mint’s line-up, and they will be known for the fewest sold in the First Spouse Gold Coin series. Harrison’s coins originally went on sale March 5, 2009. As of March 14, 2010 only 6,250 proofs and 3,537 uncirculated sold. The 2008 Louisa Adams coins had been the lowest selling with 7,454 and 4,223, respectively.
