First Spouse Gold Coin Sales: Margaret Taylor Proofs Press On

The latest US Mint sales figures show another week of First Spouse Gold Coin improvements — at least in total numbers sold. New sales totaled 407 in all, beating the prior 330. Most of the individual gains were relatively small, except for one.

The standout was clearly the proof Margaret Taylor gold coins. They jumped another 152 to reach 2,557 since their launch on Dec. 3, 2009. The uncirculated version also performed well, adding 97 compared to last week’s gain of 45.

Julia Tyler proofs edged out Sarah Polk proofs by only one. They earned 28 and 27 new sales, respectively. Each of their uncirculated coins, coincidentally, tied with 23.
