First Spouse Gold Coin Sales Rise, Except Abigail Fillmore

Although First Spouse Gold Coin sales as a group have been naturally declining after an initial bump was brought about with the release of the 2010 Abigail Fillmore First Spouse Coins, new totals were only slightly smaller compared to last week’s report. The latest United States Mint weekly data reveals 1,038 were purchased versus 1,125.

The biggest difference can be attributed to the newest coins. 534 proof and 232 uncirculated Abigail Fillmore coins sold last week, as opposed to their previous pick up of 617 and 323.

The remaining first lady coins, on the other hand, all experienced slight week-over-week gains. As examples, Margaret Taylor’s proof rose 49 compared 48, and Sarah Polk’s proof increased 45 versus 33.

The largest jump in 2009-dated coin sales was a tie between Taylor’s uncirculated and Letitia Tyler’s proof. Each beat the previous week’s unit increases by 18. Taylor uncirculated sales rose 34 compared to 16 from before, and Letitia Tyler proofs climbed 40 over 22.
