Mary Lincoln First Spouse Gold Coin Dominates Sales

The dominate coin in the remaining First Spouse Gold Coin pool was the proof Mary Lincoln coin, for the first time in three weeks. It was also the only one to outperform its prior week’s sales.

More than half of the First Spouse coins sold were Mary Lincoln proof coins, which was 78 out of 152 in all. In the last round, the ratio was 53 out of 227. As for the other two coins, collectors picked up 47 of the Mary Lincoln uncirculated and 27 of the Abigail Fillmore proofs.

Fillmore’s proof was the leader in the last report with a surge of 90, but it was classified as "sold out" today at noon after the US Mint launched the first 2011 First Spouse Coins honoring Eliza Johnson.

Collectors almost overlooked the Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets these last few weeks. Their sales improved by 5 in this round but were still less than 30 overall. Only the Buchanan and Pierce sets have been climbing up the sales ladder in the past two reports. The Mint is still offering all of the 2010-dated sets.
